Accelerator

The Real Colegio Complutense Accelerator is a developing initiative designed to serve as a strategic bridge between startups born within Spanish universities and the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Harvard.

Its purpose is to provide entrepreneurs with access to an American perspective on entrepreneurship and facilitate their integration into the Harvard ecosystem’s resources: specialized training, strategic mentorship, international investor networks, and direct connections to the Massachusetts business community.

Three levels of engagement:

Level 1 – RCC Ecosystem

We maintain a dynamic portfolio of startups created within our member universities and affiliated entrepreneurial programs, including university innovation offices and technology transfer centers (OTCs).

Startups in this portfolio are connected to relevant opportunities on an ongoing basis, including:

  • Funding rounds and grants

  • Strategic partnerships

  • Invitations to international events and delegations

  • Access to our communication channels for increased visibility

This level serves as a gateway to the broader RCC network and opens the door to deeper engagement.

Level 2 – Mentorship Track

A 3-month program designed to assess and accelerate promising projects through personalized guidance and access to specialized resources.

Participants receive:

  • Assignment of a dedicated mentor with sector-specific expertise

  • Individual evaluation of project needs and strategic priorities

  • Access to our curated online platform of tools and educational content

  • Connection to the Harvard–MIT expert network

  • Participation in the RCC Investor Day

  • Eligibility for in-person immersion opportunities in Cambridge

This track is ideal for startups seeking validation, expert feedback, and preparation for international growth.

Level 3 – Incubation Program

A one-year renewable program for selected startups ready to scale internationally and deepen their presence in the U.S. market.

Startups admitted into the incubation program receive:

  • A designated lead mentor

  • A tailored roadmap based on the venture’s goals, stage, and industry

  • Physical workspace access at 26 Trowbridge Street, in the heart of the Harvard–MIT ecosystem

  • Hands-on support for U.S. business development, regulatory guidance, and fundraising

  • Priority access to networking events, demo days, and cross-border partnership initiatives

  • Support with soft-landing services for founders traveling to Boston

This level is designed for high-potential startups ready to build lasting transatlantic connections and establish a long-term strategy for success in the U.S.

University of Alcalá – Social Media Listening for Medical Science and the Pharmaceutical Industry

The project, led by Professor Álvarez de Mon, focuses on the application of artificial intelligence to extract meaningful health-related insights from large-scale social media data. While his primary area of expertise is psychiatry and mental health—a field in which he has published extensively—the research team has expanded its scope to include other medical domains. Their work is generating valuable evidence to better understand the social and emotional determinants of health across diverse populations.
